As a celebration of homecoming, the high school hosts its annual spirit week! Spirit week is a competition between the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors to see who can earn the most points by the end of the week through various activities, with the most common way to earn points being on theme days. Where each student has to dress up according to the given day’s theme. Each person that dresses up each day would earn one point that would go towards their team’s point total by the end of the week.

Monday - PJ Day (Wear your PJs)

Tuesday - Monochromatic Day (Wear only color)

Wednesday - Dress Your Age (9th grade as babies, 10th grade as teens, 11th grade as adults, and 12th grade as senior citizens)

Thursday - Hawaiian Day

Friday - Class Color Day (Wear your class colors)

On Wednesday, the annual girls’ powder puff football tournament was held as a part of this week’s spirit games. Each of the four classes faced off against one another to earn points for their respective grades.

With such high point totals that can be won, most of a grade’s points come from the Powder Puff Game.

Game 1 - Freshman vs. Juniors

The freshman ended up beating the juniors 7-0. Libby Huisinga led the Lions with an interception that resulted in a 15-yard touchdown. Huisinga ran it in a second time for an extra point to beat the Juniors 7-0.

Game 2 - Sophomores vs. Seniors

The sophomores beat the seniors 6-0. Jayden Jones had a 44-yard run for the seniors.

Game 3 - Seniors vs. Juniors

The seniors beat the juniors 12-0. Senior Myah Boyd had a 30-yard touchdown run.

Championship Game - Freshman vs. Sophomores

The sophomores, led by Lilly Ross who had a total of 45 receiving yards and a touchdown, beat the freshman 12-0 to win the championship.

1st place: Sophomores - 100 points

2nd place: Freshman - 75 points

3rd place: Seniors - 50 points

4th place: Juniors - 25 points

On Friday at 2:00 PM, the four classes will compete in different activities, such as an egg toss and a spinning bat race, to earn more points for their respective grades. Followed by a home football game against Casey-Westfield later that evening at 7:00 PM.

Spirit week will conclude with the homecoming dance on Saturday, September 26th.
