Lions Track

The Marshall Boys Track and Field Team competed at the Little Illini Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday, May 6 in Lawrenceville, turning in several strong performances, personal records, and top finishes against tough conference competition.

Carson Claypool recorded a personal-best performance in the 100-meter dash, running 14.33 seconds to finish 12th overall. Claypool also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he placed 13th in 30.67 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, Jacob Weber finished 13th with a time of 2:40.06.

The distance runners had a strong showing for the Lions. In the 1600-meter run, Steven Hendrickson placed fourth overall with an impressive time of 4:48.29. Turner Graham added another solid performance in the event, finishing 11th in 5:18.12.

Thomas Weber delivered one of the top performances of the evening for Marshall in the 3200-meter run. Weber earned a fifth-place finish while running a personal-best time of 10:59.62.

Marshall also performed well in the field events. In the discus throw, Bryce Griguhn recorded a personal-best throw of 38.30 meters (125 feet, 8 inches) to place seventh overall. Sawyer Maurer finished 13th with a throw of 31.21 meters (102 feet, 5 inches).

In the long jump, Kaiden Sanders placed sixth with a jump of 5.15 meters (16 feet, 11 inches), while Billy Guillemette finished 12th with a jump of 3.93 meters (12 feet, 10¾ inches).

Bryce Griguhn earned Marshall’s highest finish of the meet in the shot put, placing second overall with a personal-best throw of 13.89 meters (45 feet, 7 inches). Kale Mason added a 14th-place finish with a throw of 11.06 meters (36 feet, 3½ inches).

In the triple jump, Billy Guillemette finished eighth with a jump of 8.83 meters (29 feet).

Marshall’s 4x100-meter relay team of Caleb Barnett, Charlie Fox, Kam Williams, and Kale Mason placed seventh with a time of 1:00.72.

The Lions competed hard throughout the conference meet and represented Marshall with great effort and determination. The coaching staff was proud of the team’s performances and the continued improvement shown throughout the season.
