On Tuesday the Marshall Lions made their way up to Broadlands, IL for a game against the Heritage Hawks. In recent history, the Lions have shown some semblance of dominance when they’ve played the Hawks. This game showed that in a whole new way, as Marshall came away with a football score for a win, victorious in four innings by the score of 29-3, getting them back to .500 at 4-4 on the season.
Marshall put up four runs in the top of the first, then came the top of the second. Aided by defensive errors committed by Heritage, the Lions put up a grand total of 15 runs in the top of the second. Nine more came across in the top of the third.
The Lions scored once more in the fourth, then Heritage got their three runs in the bottom of the inning. By then, the game was long decided as Marshall coasted on to the 29-3 four-inning run-rule victory.
In a game like this, it can be hard to highlight a single offensive highlight when they come in bunches like this. Garrett Pugh hit two more home runs in the game, bringing his season total to six. Reed Ramey went deep for a home run as well, his second on the season.
