Marshall Schools Students & Parents,
School is officially now out for a not so normal Summer leading into a Fall full of questions.
Thank you for all your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we navigated through the 4th Quarter of Stay-at-Home Orders, Remote Learning, Drive-Thru Graduations and everything else that came our way in the last couple of months. Your efforts to make this work, salvage learning, keep things positive for your students, and make this a growth experience for them is appreciated and commendable.
We ask for your continued patience, understanding, and cooperation as we keep moving forward though this and hopefully return to some sense of normalcy as soon as possible. We don’t have a whole lot of answers for you yet, but will continue to share with you what we do know as soon we do.
Here are some updates as things stand today regarding Wrapping up the 2019-20 School Year, Summer Activities, and the upcoming 2020-21 School Year.
WRAPPING UP 2019-20
4th Quarter Grade Cards for Pre – K through 8th Grade will not be sent out as grades did not change after the 3rd Quarter.
2nd Semester Grade Cards will be issued at the High School level and 2nd Semester Grades will reflect up to a 1 letter grade boost from the 3rd Quarter grade for those that earned it. Otherwise, the 3rd Quarter Grades become the 2nd Semester Grade.

Completed Remote Learning Packets can be dropped off at the Unit Office at 503 Pine St. on weekdays between 8 am – 3 pm. Remote Learning Links continue to be available on the school websites. Students who did not or were not able to complete Remote Learning activities are still encouraged to do so if they have the opportunity.
We encourage all students to keep reading, learning, and stay physically active throughout the summer.
Summer Learning Packets are available at the links below for South School and North School Students. Online IXL accounts and Accelerated Reader accounts will continue to be available throughout the summer months.
School Run Summer Athletic and Academic Camps have unfortunately been cancelled.
Summer Workouts for High School & Junior High Athletes
Currently the IHSA & IESA have suspended Summer Contact Days / Workouts for High School & Junior High Athletes. We do expect this to change at some point, and will publicize any changes to these rules as soon as we know. Until then, our facilities remain closed and we encourage our athletes to prepare the best they can on their own.
Summer Physicals for School / Athletics
From Cork Medical Center - School Physicals will be handled differently this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.
If you do have health insurance, your child is allowed 1 well child visit per year free of charge at your primary care doctor’s office. Your child will have a full exam, sports/school forms filled out and any vaccines needed at no cost to you. Please call and make an appointment with your doctor to have the physical done.
If you do NOT have health insurance, Cork Medical Center will see your child for the sports physical for $20. You will need to call and make an appointment at 217-826-2361.
There is also a traditional Physical Clinic scheduled for August 6th, 4 – 6 pm, at Cork Medical Center.
Meals continue to be available for Drive-Thru Pick-up in some form daily. In June, Marshall Schools will have Drive-Thru meals on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 11 am – 1 pm, in the MHS McNary Lot. 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
As stated above, there are still many questions regarding the 2020-21 School Year. We are hoping for the best and are preparing to open in full in the fall, but are also preparing to adjust as necessary based on the situation and the guidance we receive from the Governor, the IDPH, and the Illinois State Board of Education. Updates will be shared as we know more.
Online Registration for the 2020-21 School Year will be available in late July like last summer. In person Registration day is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5.
The first day of school for students for the 2020-21 School Year is Tuesday, August 18. The full school calendar will be released soon.
More updates and information will be shared as we learn more.
Continued best wishes and stay safe.
