MHS Class of 2020,
Firstly, Congratulations! You have made it. It may not look like what you have envisioned, but you have made it.
As promised, we have been working on plans for something less traditional, but memorable to celebrate you and your many accomplishments on the May 29th Graduation date. We still have hopes of a more formal, traditional ceremony at a later date when the State of Illinois ReOpening Plan would allow.
Please understand that Marshall High School must follow the guidelines for Graduations set forth by the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health (Link below if interested). For a short period of time a couple of weeks ago, this would have only allowed for a virtual graduation, but due to strong suggestions from School Administration throughout Illinois including ours, we have been given limited means to provide an in-person graduation. Please know we are doing our best, and hope that the event will be memorable.
On, Friday, May 29th, 7:00 p.m., MHS will hold a Drive-Thru Graduation and Parade for the Class of 2020. Complete details of the plan are provided at the link below. Please read through the plan carefully and contact the MHS Office if you have any questions. The Senior Bio referenced in the plan, will be sent out to Seniors to complete using their school email or by following this link.
We know the plan is not perfect, and does not allow for all to be able to be attend that want to, but WMMC will be broadcasting the event live on the radio and the event will be on their Live Stream as well. Links will be shared through the school website and WMMC. The Welcome by the Class President, Speeches by Valedictorian and Salutatorian, and Farewell by the Class Vice President will be pre-recorded by WMMC and will air on a Pre-Graduation Show between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. on WMMC.
Thanks for your patience and cooperation, and again Congratulations!
Kevin Ross & MHS Administration
